UGG · Slides and slippers · Authorized retailer

The UGG slides, often called slippers, come in four families: the Tasman, closed, with an embroidered braid across the instep; the Tazz, which is the Tasman on a platform; the Funkette, with a round toe and a high platform; and the Disquette, with a sheepskin collar and a barely perceptible lift. We carry them for women and men. Almost all have EVA or Treadlite soles, lightweight but made for the pavement, which is why they have been seen outside the home for the past few winters, worn with visible socks.

Tasman: the closed slipper

The Tasman II is made of suede, with sheepskin lining and an insole in the women's versions and an UGGpure wool insole in the men's versions; the embroidered braid, the Tasman braid, is the signature detail of the model. The Tasman Maxi Curly has a long-haired curly sheepskin vamp and is the warmest-looking style. The Baxter is unisex, while the men's Tasman Lug is designed for year-round wear. The Tasmans have a page of their own, UGG Tasman.

Tazz: the Tasman with a platform

The same idea and the same braid across the instep, but on a platform measuring 4.4 centimetres on the Tazz II and Tazz Botanic. The Tazz II is made of suede, with sheepskin inside; the Botanic has sun-shaped embroidery and UGGplush lining; the Tazz Plains has a leopard-print pony-hair upper. The platform is made of EVA, so the shoe remains lightweight despite its thickness. Those who choose it wear it with wide-leg jeans falling over the upper, not with leggings. All versions are on the UGG Tazz page.

The Tazz sells out every winter and sizes run out quickly. If yours is unavailable, the guide Tazz, Tasman, Classic Mini or Ultra Mini explains what to choose instead.

Funkette and Disquette: the tallest and lightest

The Funkette is a round-toe slide on a 6-centimetre platform, with sheepskin lining and a leather insole. In chestnut it still has a slipper-like feel; in black it becomes a city shoe, worn tone-on-tone or with wide-leg trousers covering half of it.

The Disquette sits on a 2.54-centimetre platform, in suede with a sheepskin collar and 17 mm sheepskin lining and insole. The Disquette Heritage has printed suede, a sheepskin tongue, decorative laces and a logo charm.

UGG men's slippers

For men, we carry the Tasman II in several colours, the Tasman Slip On with double lacing, the Tasman Lug and the Classic Micro, closed and lined with sheepskin. The Shep and Ascot loafer-slippers, which do the same job at home while looking like shoes, are with the rest of the men's UGG collection.

Which size to choose

This is where people get it wrong more than with any other UGG, because the boot rule does not apply to slippers. Our UGG size guide says:

Model Fit Which size
Tasman firmer structure, gives little usual size; between sizes, go up
Tazz slightly generous usual size, or half a size down if available
Funkette, Disquette the guide gives no rule contact us before ordering

Source: our UGG size guide, model by model. The Tasman is the only UGG where, between two sizes, you should size up rather than down.

The reason is the embroidered braid: it is not elastic and makes the opening narrower, especially for a high instep. On the Tazz, the thick lining feels a little tight for the first few days, then settles. Most women's models are available only in whole sizes.

Sheepskin or UGGplush: check the product details. Not all UGG slides are lined with sheepskin. Tasman II, Tazz II, Funkette and Disquette are. Tazz Botanic and Tazz Plains have UGGplush, a fabric made from recycled wool and lyocell, soft and warm but different to the touch. The details specify this for each model.

Outside the home, rain and cleaning

Almost all product details say they can be worn indoors and outdoors, and Tasman, Tazz and Funkette are the styles seen most often on the street. None is waterproof: they are made of suede, and wet suede stains. Clean them dry, brushing in the direction of the nap, and dry them away from radiators; the details are in the guide on how to clean UGG.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Tasman and Tazz?

The Tazz is the Tasman on a platform: the same embroidered braid across the instep, but with a 4.4 cm raised sole on the Tazz II and Tazz Botanic. The sizing also differs: between sizes, choose larger in the Tasman; the Tazz fits slightly generously, so choose your usual size or half a size down.

Which size should I choose for UGG slides?

For the Tasman, choose your usual size and, between sizes, the larger one, because the embroidered braid does not give. For the Tazz, choose your usual size or half a size down if available. For Funkette and Disquette, our guide gives no rule: contact us before ordering.

Can UGG slides be worn outside?

According to the product details, almost all are suitable for indoors and outdoors, and Tasman and Tazz have EVA or Treadlite soles also made for pavement. They are not waterproof, so in heavy rain it is better to leave them at home.

Are UGG slides made of genuine sheepskin?

Many are: Tasman II, Tazz II, Funkette and Disquette have sheepskin lining. Tazz Botanic and Tazz Plains are lined with UGGplush, a fabric made from recycled wool and lyocell. Each product detail specifies the material.

Are there UGG slides for men?

Yes: Tasman II, Tasman Slip On, Tasman Lug and Classic Micro. The Shep and Ascot loafer-slippers are on the men's UGG page.

Can UGG slides be machine-washed?

No. Washing machines and tumble dryers stiffen the sheepskin and can cause the sole to come unglued. Clean them by hand, using a brush and cold water only on the surface, and air-dry them away from heat.
