UGG size guide: fit and US, UK and EU conversion
UGG are exceptionally comfortable, but only if you choose the right size - and this is where almost everyone gets it wrong. The golden rule we repeat every day in the boutique is that it depends on the model: sheepskin boots fit generously, while Tasman clog slippers do not. Here is the complete guide to getting the right size, with the conversion chart and the fit explained model by model.
How do UGG fit? They run large
The sheepskin boots - Classic Mini, Short, Tall and Ultra Mini - fit generously. The Tasman clog slippers are the exception, and below you’ll find out why. The reason is the sheepskin inside, which is soft and enveloping and settles with wear, giving by about half a size. That is why your foot should initially fit snugly and fully: after a few days, the extra room will appear naturally.
The practical rule:
- If you wear a whole size (e.g. EU 39), choose your usual size.
- If you wear a half size, go down to the nearest whole size (UGG does not produce half sizes in sheepskin styles).
- If you are between two sizes, it depends on the model: for boots (Classic and Ultra Mini), choose the smaller size; for Tasman, choose the larger one. The size-by-size guide is below.
- Wear them barefoot or with a thin sock: do not leave extra room to accommodate thick socks.
UGG women’s size chart (US · UK · EU · cm)
The safest measurement is foot length in centimetres. Measure in the late afternoon, when the foot is naturally more swollen, and use the measurement of your longer foot: almost everyone has one that is slightly larger than the other. Measure your foot (heel to big toe, standing) and look for the corresponding value:
| US | UK | EU | cm |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 3 | 36 | 22 |
| 6 | 4 | 37 | 23 |
| 7 | 5 | 38 | 24 |
| 8 | 6 | 39 | 25 |
| 9 | 7 | 40 | 26 |
| 10 | 8 | 41 | 27 |
| 11 | 9 | 42 | 28 |
UGG use US sizing as the main reference. Children’s sizing is different and is shown on each product page.

| 8 | 7 | 41 | 25,5 |
| 9 | 8 | 42 | 26,5 |

| 11 | 10 | 44 | 28 |
| 12 | 11 | 45 | 28,5 |
| 13 | 12 | 46 | 29,5 |
The fit, model by model
Not all UGG fit the same. Here’s the rule for the most popular styles:
- Classic (Mini, Short, Tall) and Ultra Mini — they fit wide: take your full size and, if you’re between sizes, size down. They loosen slightly with wear.
-
Tasman — the embroidered strap across the instep (Tasman braid) is not elastic, and the construction is more solid: it loosens very little, unlike the tall boot. Take your usual size and, if you’re between sizes, the larger one. It’s the only style in the family where you size up rather than down.
Tazz — the same shoe on a platform sole, but it fits slightly large: take your usual size, or half a size down if available. - Disquette — the open-back version without the strap across the instep: it tends to fit wide, so size down if you’re between sizes.
- Lo / Lowmel (the sheepskin sneakers) — they fit more regularly than the classic styles: you can stick to your usual size.
- Scuffette and slippers — relaxed fit: if you have narrow feet, take half a size down.
- Neumel and waterproof boots — more structured construction: take your usual size, or half a size up if you have wide feet.
- Sandals and slippers (Goldenstar and similar styles) — regular fit, take your usual size.
In short: for boots (Classic, Ultra Mini), size down if you’re between sizes; for Tasman, size up because they loosen very little; for Tazz, stick to your usual size; for Lowmel sneakers and Sandals, take your usual size. The complete model-by-model chart is in the UGG size guide.

Frequently asked questions
Do UGG run large or small? Sheepskin UGG styles (Classic, Ultra Mini, Tazz, Tasman) run large: they fit loosely and give by approximately half a size with wear. If you wear a half size, go down to the nearest whole size; if you are unsure, choose the smaller size.
Should I size down with UGG? If you wear a whole size, choose your usual size; if you wear a half size or fall between two sizes, yes: it is better to size down, because the sheepskin models are roomy and are not available in half sizes.
What does UGG EU 39 correspond to? EU 39 (women's) corresponds to US 8, UK 6, and a foot length of approximately 25 cm.
How do UGG Tazz and Tasman fit? They have an embroidered band across the instep that is not elastic and makes them harder to slip on: the safest advice is to stick to your usual size (if you wear a half size, go down to the nearest whole size), without going down a full size.
Do UGG Lowmel sneakers fit like the Classic styles? No: the sheepskin Lo/Lowmel models fit more true to size than the classic styles. You can generally stick to your usual size.
